Describe the word gabber in 3 words.
“For me gabber means hardcore, community and affection.”
Where are you from?
“I’m from Germany, near Kaiserslautern and Trier.”
How is the gabber scene in your country? Is it different from Holland?
“I think it probably is different from Holland, especially where I live. There are not that many people living there that listen to harder styles. I have to travel at least a few hours to go to a festival and as far as I know, there are not that many raves or hardcore parties at all. And I think that in Holland the gabber scene is more extreme, but in a positive way, and also more dedicated than it is in Germany. But I still like German festivals and parties and it is always fun to dance with random people from any place.”
What will be your next party/festival?
“I don’t know yet. I had tickets for Decibel, Hardcore at Sea, Free Festival and Ground Zero this summer, but unfortunately as we all know, due to the pandemic they don’t take place. So I’ll see what will be the next festival I can go to… but I’m missing it so much!”
Who’s your favorite artist?
“My favorite artist is definitely Sefa, but also because I have a slight crush on him lol. His music just gives me goose bumps and I love it so much, especially when he plays the piano.”
Do all your friends listen to hardcore or are you the only one?
“No, most of my friends don’t listen to hardcore or any harder music style at all. But luckily I got some friends I’m connected with because we like the same music. But as I said before, not many people listen to hardcore where I live :D”
When did you start listening to hardcore?
“I started listening to hardcore in 2015, after a friend took me to Toxicator in that year. But since then, I’m in love with this music style.”
